#273 Vision II

I cropped this image on the computer.  This was the first painting I did at Vision Nursery yesterday, on a board that had been inked black at one point.  But it's not velvet! Painting on a dry, dark ground seems kind of problematic, because the edges of the wet paint can get kind of fuzzy

#272 Vision I

It's not a typical composition, but I wanted to get this cluster of nice Japanese maples in pots, at Vision Nursery west of Sequim. There's a greenhouse behind the shed.  Oil on canvas panel, 9" x 12".

#271 Tarp

This was painted at the Wooden Boat Center in Port Townsend.  A nice man came out and asked if he should remove the tarp for me, and I said, "nooooooo!  Thank you". Oil on panel, 9" x 12".

#269 Akamai Pond 1

There is a name for this pond behind Akamai Art In Port Townsend, but I'm not sure what it is.  Anyway, it was a nice little spot to do a paint-out organized by Akamai, followed by a Gamblin product desrciption by Scott Gellatly.  This was the first oil painting I've done in almost a year- instead of doing the monochromatic underpainting, I just tried to think a few minutes before putting in the dark masses at the beginning.  It made me much more careful than usual.  Oil on panel, 8" x 10".

#268 Shrouded Land

I have a number of gessoed panels for acrylic and oil painting, and decided to try sumi ink on one.  It was really compatible! While the ink is wet, you can smear or lighten it, or let it run in interesting patterns.  I noticed, though, that it never became completely resistant to rubbing off, so it got sprayed with acrylic varnish to make sure it doesn't smear. 8" x 8", with some Inktense pencil.

#267 Cliff Collage

This is a collage of masa paper on masa, using Inktense pencils and sumi ink, and a tiny bit of watercolour. It's based on memories of central Washington, in those canyons littered with boulders. About 6" x 9".
