I started this watercolor yesterday at the wildlife refuge, and finished it this afternoon. About 8" x 12".

#284 Dungeness Wildlife Refuge
I went painting! The Weather-or-Nots went to the Dungeness Wildlife Refuge, which um, allows hunting in the fall months. So it's kind of a part-time refuge. We saw a harrier and a small cloud of cedar waxwings. A path went down between these trees to a golden field. Watercolor on printmaking paper, about 10" x 11".

#283 Uptown
The plein air painters met in uptown Port Townsend, and I brought my laptop and Bamboo pad. There was a little glare on the screen outside, but it was doable.

#282 Digi-abstract
My sketch subject did not want the sketch published, so I did this instead, using my Bamboo sketch pad.

#281 Sun and Glass
The sun shone right down on this bouquet. I have to mention that the blue flowers are something that grew in our mixed lettuce seed package, or else were weeds in the top soil we got this spring. I was able to recognize the stinging nettle as not belonging in with the lettuces, but some of the other plants we assumed belonged. Do lettuces have blue flowers? They're very pretty, anyway. Acrylic on 6" x 6" panel.

#277 5x7 RR Bridge
I redid yesterday's plein air in a 5"x7" format, so it could be in a charity show organized by Sequim Arts at The Annex on Washington Street, Sequim, in September. Proceeds will benefit the local high school art programs.

#276 West of Railroad Bridge
This was painted this afternoon, just west of Railroad Bridge Park. I've been toning down colors lately, but today wanted to show how bright the grass is, even in August! Oil, 9" x 12" on panel.

#275 Glass Pals
A quick, watercolor and ink portrait of two glass bottles. The weather was too warm to continue, but maybe this is enough- the stalwart green bottle backing up the happy light one.

#274 Deer Ridge Collage
Sometimes when I first switch to collage on a watercolor, it feels like I'm cheating. But then as a few more layers go on, it's obvious that the collage adds something important. This image represents how it felt to be on the Deer Ridge trail today, south of Sequim. There was a jumble of branches, warm earth, and sunny skies- and it was so quiet! About 8" x 9".
